Catch up and Rheinfels Castle

We love the park behind our house. I think that when it comes time to leave here, it will be one of the things we'll miss most. Many days a week we all take a walk through it to visit the animals and/or playground (and of course, take pictures). This was Daddy & Andrew taking a break while waiting for a tantrum prone William to catch up to the rest of us.

Cameron has finally warmed up to the animals enough to feed them. He used to be so terrified! He still doesn't like the donkeys with the dreadlocks though. I can't say I blame him.

Nathaniel took yesterday off work and we took advantage of the free week day to do some sight seeing! We went and visited Rheinfels castle. We loved it! Aside from the initial heart attacks had by us parents when Cameron would sprint full speed towards poorly blocked off cliff edges, it was great. There are tons of tunnels and ruins to explore. I feel like we've visited many castles in the past and this was definitely the most available to roam through. Lets me tap into my childhood dream of being an archeologist a little bit. ;)
The boys loved it and even enjoyed the 90 min drive there because so much of it was along the river with ideal kid things to see. They kept calling out "boat!", "Train!!", "Castle!" Lucky boys.

This is staring up what used to be a spiral staircase.

Exploring the tunnels. The boys were brave. William would disappear into the dark fearlessly (terrifying his mother). Next time, we'll bring flashlights.
Peeking out one of the windows in a tunnel at a spider.

See the little bruise where his goose egg is healing?

Pit-Stop at McDonalds on the way home to refuel. Who knew there'd be so many fun photo ops at McD's?

aw, awesome pics! Love the one of the dark tunnel. You definitely know how to work a camera! And my hands broke out in a sweat at remembering how I felt as I watched my boys sprint for poorly fenced cliffs and castle walls, when I looked at that pic of William. I don't miss the fearing-for-their-lives part of seeing castles, but I do miss the castles. Thanks for the pics and update, I love hearing how you guys are settling in :-)

Sorry I didn't call you back we will talk soon.
