Big brother & little brother

While William is usually rough and tough, he knows how to express his tender side as well (just like his daddy).
Here's a classic, recurring scene as of late: "I know you don't want this binky in your mouth right now, but I want it there, so eat it!"
Big brother coming dangerously close to disturbing little brother's peace...
David & Goliath. Funny how 17 months of breast milk and protein shakes can quadruple your size.
All parents think their kids are the cutest kids ever. We're no exception.
Sleepy time, again (22 hours a day, broken down into convenient 45 minutes segments).
For another brief moment, William was actually tender and gentle with Cameron. Way to go, macho man.
These two are just too much fun!

A Baby Story...

Cameron Ralph
Dear friends, it is wonderful to be home! Nathaniel has been spoiling me rotten and William has been taming his urge to point (poke) out his new brother's eye, nose and mouth. I feel so amazingly blessed to be the mother to two darling, beautiful, healthy boys.

Big and Little. We're having to remind ourselves that William is still very much a baby even though he's not the baby anymore.
Cameron was due on September 30th. I had no idea or even fanciful notion that he'd come any sooner than his brother had (3 days). When contractions started on the 3rd, I wouldn't even commit to myself to thinking that I was actually in real labor until the nurse at the hospital told me I very much WAS. This labor was incredibly different than my labor with William. I was completely shocked when the nurse told me I was a 6-7, was progressing quickly, and that she felt the baby's feet! We were admitted to my room at 11:15, and our sweet Cameron was born via emergency c-section at 12:14. We are so grateful for modern medicine and the skilled work of all our doctors and nurses that ensured a healthy mother and baby!

I think this picture is amazing. Nathaniel took it maybe seconds after Cameron had arrived.

Our first family photo.

Sweet Cameron's arms barely made it half way down the sleeves of his shirt! He's a long skinny thing, to be sure.
I was so happy when William came to visit. It is the longest that I'd been away from him, and I missed him dearly. It was a challenge, of course, to keep him off me (he kept trying to jump in my lap) and the baby, but what a joy to have such a loving son.
Another picture I adore.
William is getting better every day about the new "baba" around the house. He is very curious about his new brother and is very sweet with him. He drastically changed his nap schedule on us the day after I came home... but we're working with it and trying to keep the rest of our routines as normal as possible.

"Bisous"
It's really hard to capture how small he is until you meet him! I tried with this picture and our hands though.

Mama's boys! Packing up to go home.

I never thought that anything would look smaller than William did in this car seat! Well, he's growing fast (already surpassed birth weight again), so I'm sure he'll fill it out in no time.
We are so grateful to all our dear friends and family for their love and support. Cameron's arrival was definitely a surprise and we feel so very blessed that he is healthy and that he and I are doing so well. I am feeling great and getting stronger and better every day. Cameron is a good eater, a great pooper, and a fabulous sleeper... except from 10pm-1am. Any takers for that shift?
I'm amazed every day that Heavenly Father has blessed me with such a remarkable husband who loves me unconditionally. Honestly--If you all knew how crazy I can be, you'd be amazed too. :) I have been blessed with two healthy sons and countless other wonderful people and blessings in my life. Thank you to all for all of your love and prayers!

And then there were four

On September 4, 2008 at 12:14 a.m., Felicity & Nathaniel (and sleeping William) welcomed the latest addition to the Hancock family. Born almost 4 weeks early, our second son (name TBD) weighed 5 lb. 7 oz. and was 19 1/4" long. Felicity is doing remarkably well after the emergency cesarean section and plans to return home this Sunday with William's little brother. Nathaniel and William just can't wait to welcome the wee one home and to have their beautiful wife and mother back! As much as they enjoy microwavable meals and sharing "guys' night out" activities, there is nothing quite like being home together as a family.
To all you readers out there: we are so grateful for your love and support. It is wonderful to have friends and family with whom we can share our joyful news... and upon whom we can rely for babysitting at such times. :) You're the best.
Goodnight to my dear ones at the hospital, and goodnight to friends and family around the globe.

Baby of Mine

Several nights ago Nathaniel and I were at our friends, Cami & Jake's, house. Cami and I started talking about how we should go 'shooting' on Monday. Nathaniel gave me the most confused look and I said, "you know, with rifles.". 10 minutes later my beloved still had the mental image of me and Cami rifle shooting until we clarified shooting with our CAMERAS. ha! Still makes me chuckle. Here are a few of the shots that I managed to get on our shooting spree. I haven't bothered to try to edit any of them yet. Naptime is precious time and I have some church things I need to get ready for tonight before my sweet baby wakes up.

It cracked me up how William became quite the poser when he was in line with several other kids for his turn to be a super star. Cami got an AWESOME shot of him mid "roar" that she's posted on http://photographywannabe.blogspot.com

I love this one too. That red spot between his eyes turned up sometime mid-day and none of us have any idea how he got it!

Our sweet boy has been a generous "bisous" giver lately... especially to his daddy.

On Sunday we went out for a family walk around Lake Elkhorn. If I had Jeri's awesome skills this picture would have turned out in nice color with sunlight streaking in. Hmm. Something to work towards I guess! Maybe photoshop will help me out a bit. Keep watch. I'll work on it.

A man and his stroller. What can I say. Maybe William knows that a baby is coming to town. Regardless, he has a passion for any baby stroller (full or doll sized) that he sees and I finally deemed it time to get him one of his own. We went for a fish pattern. It was our best bet over all the pink and heart ones! Plus, this one has a basket for his precious 'night-night'.

Are we ready? This has been a popular question! Well... logistically we are largely ready. I think we really just need diapers and then we're set (so easy to have #2 be a boy). We've got another crib, the bassinet is set up, and William can say 'Baby'. I think that's as prepped as he's gonna get though. Mentally I think I've finally come to terms with how soon the baby is going to be here. A dear friend told me how as son as the baby is born William suddenly won't be my baby anymore. He'll be my big boy. Oh, I'm a bit torn about that! I want to always cherish him as my sweet baby-however big and independent he gets.
My belly is measuring small (just like it did with W) so we have a sonogram on Friday. It'll be fun to see how big he's grown! I'll post belly pictures and baby pictures soon.

Nathaniel's Flashback Tuesday

Today it's Nathaniel's turn. Lucky for our blog viewers (and thanks to his brother John) I have many of his childhood pictures in digital form. Today I'm just posting a select few of the highlights. Enjoy!

Newborn William vs. newborn Nathaniel. I think that as William grows up the similarities will just continue to get stronger. Here is my justification that I think William's hair will turn dark like his daddy's. They are blondies at about the same age.I love this picture! It's just how I imagine Nathaniel as a kid.

My sweet sensitive one. This is in the MTC just before saying goodbye to his family. And... his not so sensitive side. This is from one of his body building competitions. Love the body paint on his face?

My darling boys. I'm a lucky girl!
