boys

HAHA-- that's not a gun, it's a train. Check out those pearly whites!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....
Amazing how a Santa hat can make such a crazy kid look so angelic.
Nathaniel put the boys to sleep last night.... I found them 45 minutes later like this. :)
Strangers in our winter snow storm. I LOVE snow, but dang it! It's COLD!!

fun fun

A little post-bath hair fun. :)

I feel like he's already leaving little boy 'cute' and growing into grown man 'handsome'. Time goes too fast when they're this small.

William loves pumpkins. He came home from school looking like this three days last week and this entire afternoon was spent drawing chalk pumpkins on the back patio. I'll have to try to get pictures of those... when did he learn to draw? You're just my little boy! Slow down!

In other news: Today Andrew is 9 months old. *love* my little angel boy. Only, he hasn't been such an angel lately thanks to a growth spurt. I still adore him. He'll get his own picture post tomorrow.

A day (or minute, rather) in the life:

Same amount of noise, but less screaming than our previous dinnertime show:

p.s... the house was tidy this morning.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

I hardly even need to tell you that this city was beautiful. But I will anyway. It was beautiful. Since I fell off the wagon with my "thankful" posts I'll list a few now: I'm thankful for Veterans (my grandfathers and brother included), for a paid day off work, for a reliable van, for portable DVD players, for 'Max and Ruby', and for euro pastries (though my diet plan isn't quite as thankful for those-- good thing I have BOB to help me through my weaknesses!).

He does not look 2-years-old in this picture. He is telling me "I don't want you to take a picture, mom!" He really is growing up fast.

So lovely!

My sister gave me this hat a few years ago. William found it a while ago when we busted out the winter gear and completely hijacked it. So funny. It has a pom-pom on it and everything. At least it's blue?

Sweet Andrew is hiding on the other side of Cameron. This is in the main market square, that has quite the history and in a few weeks will also have an awesome Christmas market. Perhaps we'll have to make a trip back there.

For Uncle John. There was a surprising amount of Jewish memorials, etc.

Nathaniel sported Andrew in the bjorn and William got a free ride for a bit. With the hat covering his eyes, he fell sound asleep in about 15 minutes and ended up sleeping for most of our visit to Rothenburg. Made for a very peaceful trip, especially after Cameron fell asleep too! (Again, here is Cameron telling me to not take a picture.)

Who has seen chitty chitty bang bang?!
We couldn't pass up a visit to the criminal and law museum. It had a horrifying amount of antique torture devices, punishment tools, medieval law books/decrees/etc. Very fascinating.
Cameron in the stocks.

A bakers cage. Also comes in chair design. This was most commonly used to punish bakers who's bread weighed too much or too little, by dunking them in and out of water. Yikes!

A witches chair. Supposedly this was more of a scare tactic than an actual torture device. Let's hope.

There were a lot of various masks that people were forced to wear for varying offenses such as gossip, slander, behaving as a fool, etc. This one was for people who acted 'piggish'. haha!

The infamous chastity belt. ICK. They had 3 on display. The sign said that they were most often used on wives when husbands went away. Way to show the love there, husbands!

In effort to let you go on a happy note: My handsome man carrying around our most precious bundle. Also: the most famous part of the city. One road goes down to the valley and the road on the left leads out of the city.

Playing

Dang, I uploaded these backwards. Oh well! Yesterday while the younger boys were sleeping I decided to take pictures of William after he demanded "Mommy! Take a picture of my scissors!" Recently at school he's been exposed to scissors so we finally went and got a couple kid pairs. He'll sit at the table and just cut into a piece of paper until then thing is almost confetti. Funny kid is so proud of his new skill. Then, mid pictures, Andrew woke up. The light was bad, but the baby is beautiful. Nathaniel saw the some of them and told me that it looked like Andrew was starring in a horror film. HAHA. So here's the poster for the new movie!:

It's that center picture that got him the lead in the first every baby horror movie! ;)

I LOVE these little baby hands.

So. Andrew started crawling at 6 months, and now at 8 months he's pulling himself up. However, he still can't be bothered to sit up as that would require staying in one boring place. Here Andrew is at his recent favorite lookout point: spying on our neighbor as he re-landscapes his garden.

William made this face just for the camera. We might need to work on his posing skills. I'll bet his daddy could give him some pointers. :)

Scissors. I love my funny boy!

Two days late, but worth the wait

Someone else on their blog is posting every day in November something that they're grateful for.
I love it. So I'm snagging that sweet idea.

Here's for the first 3 days:

I'm grateful for: William, Cameron, and Andrew.

:)

Cop out?

Ah well, here are some more then.

FALL. I love fall. I love the sound of walking through crunch leaves. I love driving down the road and having the leaves blow all around the car like a snow flurry. I love the temperatures. And I LOVE the colors. Thanks for Fall!

-click picture to see that beautiful pearly white-
I'm grateful for the first pain-free (for me, anyway) tooth. I always wanted to smack those moms who said "oh, one day X had 4 teeth! I didn't even know he was teething!" Low, and behold, this little ol' tooth made a very quiet and stealth appearance. Its buddy to its left, is not being so kind to sweet Andrew.

I'm grateful for my camera, so I can capture the joy in my little boy's lives. What's better, really, than being outside on a slide with sticks aplenty to be found? More evidence of this camera (and subjects) that I'm so grateful for below:

What a stud. Poor kid, shortly before this picture his training wheel caught on the side of the path and he fell over.... into stinging nettle. We were just happy we made him wear a coat or it would have been all over his arms as well as his hands and wrists.

These fields are really not far at all from our house. Not long ago the fields all had wheat and corn in them. I love living here. The boys are playing in tractor tracks.

I love these boys. Pity the background is DIRT.
