Naked Baby!

If you're averse to seeing pictures of a naked 17-month old, than close the window now. I think the little bum shots are adorable, myself.

Lately Cameron has been especially into mimicking whatever the grownups are doing. Child-appropriate substitutes simply will NOT do for this lad. He wants the paint roller in the paint pan, the vacuum, the dishwashing sponge, the broom (a major favorite to drag all over the house), etc. Last week he saw our friend working on putting up the nursery wall and HAD to try his hand at the washing/sanding of the wall as soon as he could. He's so funny with his attention to detail. He went and grabbed the stepping stool and found a towel and went to work. I could use this to my advantage one day! I'll just have to make sure that next time he has clothes on.

Cameron has also been talking up a storm. He uses words like 'juice', 'milk' ('uck'), 'wawa' very specifically as to what he wants. William didn't do that until well after 2. Today the child told me he had a dirty diaper! My little child prodigy. So far, I've got one that's bound for athletic scholarship and one that's bound for academic scholarship....*beaming mother*. Haha!

Project Complete!

Hooray! Pink walls are gone, and things are back in their places. The kids were anxious to help but Cameron was actually DID help this morning and took a good nap (as opposed to now, as he's screaming in his crib... WHY won't tired children NAP??).

William came in and wanted to draw letters. I helped him paint one of his favorites (though he still doesn't connect it with his name) and then let him trace over it.

Tiffany is a saint. Here you can see her in action and the walls formerly known as pink.

Finished product taken via iPhone so picture quality isn't stellar... but you get the idea. SO much better!! The walls look kinda gold/yellow in this picture, but in that first picture of William and his "W" you can see the color much better.

So Silly

A while back I think that I posted about William's fancy pronunciation of my sister's dog's name, Timber. I had no idea that another sister managed to catch it on video. She just posted it on her blog. haha! William had a while where he flip-flopped P and T sounds, but I'm not sure how he came up with the rest of that word especially as we don't use anatomically correct words with him just yet. What a silly little boy. I can't believe how much he's grown since then!

In other news: The wall is FABULOUS. It looks like it always should have been there (which it should have). Yesterday my dear friend Tiffany helped me paint over William's pink/peach/peptol bismol (sp?) walls and today we're finishing up. Yay! Finally all these little (I use 'little' loosely-- painting with 2 little kids underfoot is no small task) projects are getting finished. delightful! :)

Before:

I was lazy and didn't want to switch lenses, so these are the best views you'll get. The owners who had this house built left the wall between the master bedroom and the 4th bedroom open to use it as a "sitting room". Honestly. There is plenty of room to "sit" in the master. Just make the other room a guest room if you don't need it!!! Oh well. Today we're sealing up the wall to make and Andrew's nursery official. Yay! After that all we'll need is the bedding (ahem, mom), and another glider. 32 weeks and counting....

January??

What is this weather?! Whatever it is, I LOVE it. It has struck me with serious spring fever. This afternoon Nathaniel and I took the boys out to the tot-lot (playground for all you Western dwellers) and I was able to get some fun[ny] pictures of the boys. Love them.

Cameron's signature look: tongue out and drool.
A signature of William: chewing on buttons. I can't tell you how many shirts he's chewed the buttons off of. Goofy kid!

This picture is out of focus, but I still love it! Nathaniel was chasing him around the playground.

My boys are growing up entirely too fast, but I wouldn't stop it for the world. I have so much fun with them! Cameron has more words than I can count and picks up many more words each day. William is getting better at communicating and we're working on talking instead of tantrums. Thank goodness!

National Zoo

Nathaniel's brother John is in town visiting us! We decided to take advantage of the awesome weather today (50 degrees! woo hoo!) to go visit the National Zoo in D.C. The boys were all so good (even Nathaniel and Uncle John) and we all enjoyed seeing so many animals out and about. I was just bummed that they apparently moved out Happy the Hippo last year to another zoo. Tragedy.

Uncle John was a trooper hauling around our Cameron. You can kinda see my 32-week belly in this shot...though the sweatshirt hides it well. :)
William is in a licking phase, which is especially annoying if he goes for your face. He went right up to this frog and gave it an open-mouth kiss! We'll have to have a chat with this kid... no hunting for princesses with open-mouth kisses just yet, OK??
William was literally inches from this gorilla! He also played a game of tag with a meercat.
I've seen these orangutan ropes up over the zoo before, but I've never seen occupants thereon. Very cool.
Gosh, this boy is gorgeous.
William was very into the elephants! BTW, see that train in hand? We're going on 3 days now.

Looking up at the red-panda. I'd say the day was a hit.

the puppy towel

My mom bought William a couple towels when he was born with his name embroidered on them. Recently the puppy towel has become a much sought after item post bath or shower (the boys LOVE showers). As soon as the shower is over they both start saying "puppy!" Oh my gosh, Cameron says it so cute. I'll have to try to record it and put it on here next time. Then, as soon as the coveted towel is placed on them they start saying "arf! arf!"(as the other boy chases them around trying to steal the towel). It makes us laugh every time. Such silly boys. I love how much Cameron is learning from watching William. Hopefully he'll only learn good things... right?!

Dancing in the sunlight of baby Andrew's soon-to-be nursery (wall is being built to separate it from our room this week. YAY!).

Cameron says "deese!" as soon as he sees the camera, but he says it as he runs to my lap to see the pictures I've taken. KID, if you don't hold still I can't take any!

Cameron's turn with the precious puppy towel. This boy seems to always have either snot or slobber on his face. Hopefully those cursed molars will cut through soon and leave the boy alone!

William with his precious new train, Thomas with a snowplow. I just can't buy presents months in advance... I cave in because I know how much they'll love whatever it is. I can't believe he'll be three so soon!

I should have known better...

While I was trying (for the 3rd time) to put Cameron down for a nap, a little critter we can call... oh, let's call him William, managed to get into the cupcakes.

I laughed so hard it was even better therapy than the cupcakes themselves. Will you also notice that he insisted on wearing Cameron's sweater? Yup, still trying to learn about big/small. Love these crazy monkey boys.

Christmas Day

We enjoyed a very relaxing Christmas day! It was different/sad to not have any family around us for the first time ever (for me anyway), but it was so nice to just be home and take it easy. The boys unfortunately both woke up with colds, but they were both pretty enthusiastic when they saw their spoils under the tree. Cameron was a sweetie and always just happy to play with whatever toy William shoved in his hand with a "here, you play with dat Cannon." William was in heaven for a full 4-5 hours. New trains, trucks, airplanes and a scooter...! The kid hardly knew what to do with himself. He also adored playing some ping pong with Daddy on Nathaniel's brand new Christmas table. I'm not sure who loves the table more, Nathaniel or William (though W's version of 'playing' is usually just switching sides, paddles and throwing the balls around)!
Merry Christmas to all of our dear friends and family. We love you so much!

Santa's handy work.

Checking out some fun new movies!

Daddy's new football from the boys. Can you tell William helped me wrap and write on it?
William was so excited about the new trucks he wouldn't even take his hand off it to open a new present!

It's getting harder and harder to get a picture of our little monkey, Cameron. He's ALWAYS on the move.

William on his new scooter/skateboard. He calls it both.

Poppy and Grammy spoiled the boys with a roller coaster! They've played pretty nicely on it taking turns though we have already had two collisions with William riding on the coaster and Cameron on the track.....

Christmas Carol

In early December I was delighted to find A Muppet Christmas Carol at Costco! It became my goal to make sure that my kids love the movie as much as I do.

Mission accomplished.

As soon as I turn it on, BOTH of them are tuned out to the world for as many as 15 minutes. Today, even Curious George couldn't pull my William away. I LOVE how he knows the end word to each line of the opening song. The lighting is terrible (this was probably around 630 am), but I was trying to be as discreet as possible while filming so as to not distract my little performer. It's long (had to film the whole thing for his future amusement). Just turn up the volume and enjoy his silly scroogy singing voice for a little bit. :)

Take Two (Hundred)

I FINALLY found matching pj's for the boys that I liked AND the store had both of their sizes. I thought these were Christmas-y enough, but also not so Christmas-y that I couldn't put them in them for as long as cold weather requires. Adorable. So. Today I set out to get some pictures of them.... Quite the adventure in and of itself! Dang, they're cute boys though. I did manage to get a couple that will satisfy a last-minute card, but as usual, the outtakes are almost more worth seeing.

For your viewing pleasure:

'Mom, what the HECK are you trying to do to us?'
William was actually less cooperative than Cameron was! I finally resorted to tickling his tummy with my FOOT so that I'd be able to get a picture of him smiling.

Our dear little Cameron is often found like this: Tongue out of mouth and smiling (and destroying the house... but that's a bit less cute).
Cameron with one of the most coveted toys in the house: Mom or Dad's toothbrush (the other is the handle to my venus razor). Say "eew, germs!"... but ya know, with little ones, they're shared one way or another anyway.

To keep the boys in one place I scattered some Reese's Pieces on the papasan. Here they are scavenging after a fresh batch was dropped.

William was especially loving to Cameron today. First he (almost force-) fed Cameron treats ("here Cannon!") and later after Cameron's nap, he said: "OH! Cannon! I missed YOU!". Warms a mother's heart.

NYC

Well.... I wouldn't exactly say I love NYC, but driving aside, it's a fun place to visit! Especially with pro tour guide Charity. Nathaniel took this week off work to enjoy time with the family, avoid the week-of-Christmas masses, and to celebrate our FIVE-year anniversary! Charity had yesterday off work, so we braved a trip up to visit her with the boys. It ended up being a great day!

Nathaniel is so cute. He kept singing Serendipity songs while we were checking out the Rockefeller tree and skating rink.
Cameron was styling riding ALL over NYC on Daddy's back.

William had one of the best days of his life. He got to ride a "train" (aka metro) AND a BOAT. He was beside himself with glee. It was so funny, on the metro he kept saying "alll aboarrrd!"

"Freedom isn't free"- Nathaniel

Can't even tell you how cold it was. Charity was trying to get Cameron to smile for a picture.
Aunty Cher is always so much fun! When we got in the car to go home William kept asking "Where aunt chur-dy, Mom?" I'm so happy that my boys have been able to get to know her. Hopefully she'll stay East (but not in NYC) when she's done w/residency.

William took napped for over 2 hours! Made for an easy lunch at a Joe's Shanghai where Cameron enchanted all of the waiters.
