A Baby Story...

Cameron Ralph
Dear friends, it is wonderful to be home! Nathaniel has been spoiling me rotten and William has been taming his urge to point (poke) out his new brother's eye, nose and mouth. I feel so amazingly blessed to be the mother to two darling, beautiful, healthy boys.

Big and Little. We're having to remind ourselves that William is still very much a baby even though he's not the baby anymore.
Cameron was due on September 30th. I had no idea or even fanciful notion that he'd come any sooner than his brother had (3 days). When contractions started on the 3rd, I wouldn't even commit to myself to thinking that I was actually in real labor until the nurse at the hospital told me I very much WAS. This labor was incredibly different than my labor with William. I was completely shocked when the nurse told me I was a 6-7, was progressing quickly, and that she felt the baby's feet! We were admitted to my room at 11:15, and our sweet Cameron was born via emergency c-section at 12:14. We are so grateful for modern medicine and the skilled work of all our doctors and nurses that ensured a healthy mother and baby!

I think this picture is amazing. Nathaniel took it maybe seconds after Cameron had arrived.

Our first family photo.

Sweet Cameron's arms barely made it half way down the sleeves of his shirt! He's a long skinny thing, to be sure.
I was so happy when William came to visit. It is the longest that I'd been away from him, and I missed him dearly. It was a challenge, of course, to keep him off me (he kept trying to jump in my lap) and the baby, but what a joy to have such a loving son.
Another picture I adore.
William is getting better every day about the new "baba" around the house. He is very curious about his new brother and is very sweet with him. He drastically changed his nap schedule on us the day after I came home... but we're working with it and trying to keep the rest of our routines as normal as possible.

"Bisous"
It's really hard to capture how small he is until you meet him! I tried with this picture and our hands though.

Mama's boys! Packing up to go home.

I never thought that anything would look smaller than William did in this car seat! Well, he's growing fast (already surpassed birth weight again), so I'm sure he'll fill it out in no time.
We are so grateful to all our dear friends and family for their love and support. Cameron's arrival was definitely a surprise and we feel so very blessed that he is healthy and that he and I are doing so well. I am feeling great and getting stronger and better every day. Cameron is a good eater, a great pooper, and a fabulous sleeper... except from 10pm-1am. Any takers for that shift?
I'm amazed every day that Heavenly Father has blessed me with such a remarkable husband who loves me unconditionally. Honestly--If you all knew how crazy I can be, you'd be amazed too. :) I have been blessed with two healthy sons and countless other wonderful people and blessings in my life. Thank you to all for all of your love and prayers!

Oh he's TINSY!!!! So so small and beautiful. I love the picture of the sleeping boys together. I remember bringing home Ethan and thinking how incredibly big Jeffy looked--man the first time I changed his diaper again after changing Ethan was quite the shock. But William still has plenty of baby time in him. They'll be such good friends, like my boys.

Enjoy that tiny time. I'm looking at my hugemongous 4-month-old rolling around on the ground and I'm not quite sure how that all happened.

You are all just beautiful! I'm so happy that everything turned out so well. I'm sure it was scary there for a minute to find out that he was breech. It sounds like you were a trooper!

Cameron is just as cute as they come. I can't imagine having a baby so small, though I think I would have liked it. I had to put away half of Charlie's clothes when I brought him home from the hospital because he was already too big! I know that William is going to be the best big bro ever. I bet he has lots of tricks to teach him!

I love all of the pictures, and I love the name you chose for him. I can't wait to actually meet him. I'm sure by then he'll be so much bigger. Looking at him in your arms and in the carseat reminds me of how tiny Olivia once was. Now she's in the 95% for her weight. Babies grow so quickly. I'm excited for W to have a sweet little baby.

Dear Hancock Family.

I'm an old high school friend of Julie's. I hope you don't mind but I was just surfing through different pages and came across yours. I wanted to say congrats on your GORGEOUS new bundle. My son Evan was born 8 weeks early, weighed a whopping 2 lbs 4.4. oz, and spent 6 weeks in the NICU before finally coming home. I know what it's like to have a peanut only now my peanut is about to turn 5 and begin preschool. The time flew right by. Enjoy each and every moment and I wish you all the best.
