Mainz Tiergarten

May 25

I heard about this park from some of the gals at church. On this Friday we wanted to get out as it was such a beautiful (and unexpectedly hot!) day. Our sweet friend C and her aunt came with us (brave souls!).

They have these cute viewing tunnels where the kids climb in to watch bunnies, and other little critters.

I spy: a big fat pig, taking a nap in the mud. This fella was *huge*.

 Shh! Cameron is "hiding"!
I love the age when kids think that if they shut their eyes no one can see them. ;)

William was *very* enthusiastic about finding this pig. I think he yelled at me 100 times "Mom! Look! I'm riding a pig!"

Then we came to the deer. It was so cool to see them so tame.

This is how Andrew runs. :)

 Handsome.

 Striking a pose!

After the smaller deer we came up on these big guys! Their antlers were amazing! Much wider than they look in this picture.

See? So cool. We stayed by these guys for about 20 minutes, we were all so impressed with them (that and N had found some Frenchies to chat with).

It was early enough in the spring that the antlers still had a velvet-like covering on them. I didn't even know that they ever got it! It was so soft!

A conversation:
Me: "Hey Cameron! There's a cool door-- go let me take your picture!"
 Cameron: cheesy smile...

William: "I WANT a picture!"

... and then they were both in on the silly action.

The cutest monkeys you'll ever see!
