Our final destination of the day was to visit the Bayeux Tapestry. It is amazing! It is 70-meters long and illustrates "Celebrating the conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy".
It was amazing to see the detail! They had little phones you held ask you walked along the tapestry that explained the story you were seeing, and even had a special kids series that surprisingly really held William's attention! He was fascinated by William the Conquerer and could tell us details of the story afterwards.
Going to battle!
The top and bottom borders of the main illustration supported the storyline. Here's a man fallen in battle and his robes removed.
Then.. the tapestry ends... seeming like it was meant to be continued. The tapestry dates back to the 11th century and was found folded in the bottom of a church. No one is certain of its origins or what was meant to become of it.. or how it got there in the first place.
